Grade B, eh?

September 16, 2009

Today I venture to the health food store for the Grade B Maple Syrup so difficult to come by in the normal stores.  My boyfriend asked what the Grade B was all about – as he put it, “B is inferior to A in common parlance, please explain this deviation of normal classification schemes in 20 words or less.”

Essentially B and A syrup relate to color. B is darker than A. A is lighter because of processing – processing that introduces formaldehyde into the syrup.  Therefore, B has less formaldehyde and is, therefore, better for this detoxification process than A. My reply to boyfriend was clipped down to accommodate his demand, “B is the color – it’s darker and has less formaldehyde – hence, it is better for you.”  16 words, not bad.

Tomorrow I really and officially start the mastercleanse detox process.  Therefore, tonight I will celebrate Ramadan at a Honduran restaurant – which, I believe, is traditional.

Alternatively, as New Now and Forever Katie put it – I will be celebrating “The Last Supper.”

Traditional Honduran? Must be a class B restaurant, then, not mixing formaldehyde in their stew.
For a last supper, though, a dash of formaldehyde wouldn’t be out of character.
